THIS POST CORRECTS MY ERROR. SMART MAILBOXES SHOULD NOT BE USED. PLEASE FOLLOW VICKIE’S INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO CREATE A RULE AND THEN HAVE THE RULE SWEEP THE INDIVIDUAL EMAILS INTO THE MAILBOX. REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN USE SPOTLIGHT (SEARCH) TO FIND A SPECIFIC TOPIC IN THAT MAILBOX. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SCROLL ONE BY ONE.
AT OUR WEDNESDAY MEETING I SAID I WOULD POST SOME HELP ABOUT THE CHANGES IN THE YAHOO DISCUSSION GROUP. This discussion is because some of you have inquired about where the e-mail DIGESTS went. You are now receiving INDIVIDUAL EMAILS each day instead. DIGESTS ARE GONE- part of Verizon/Oath’s Improvement plan.
Basically the Discussion Group is now an email information swap. You also can not now go to the web (groups.yahoo.com/naplesmug) and search a topic as before. I have attached YAHOO’S announcement at the end of this post.
For those of you unhappy about individual emails from NMUG in your inbox, I suggest you set up a mailbox just for NMUG messages, as well as a rule that all incoming mail from NMUG going into that mailbox. That way, they won’t “invade” you inbox and you can read and/or delete at your leisure. Instructions on how to do this have been sent out via the chat many times in the past.
Here is the full text of theYahoo explanation.
Understand what’s changing in Yahoo Groups
Yahoo has made the decision to no longer allow content to be uploaded to the Yahoo Groups site. Don’t worry, though, Yahoo Groups is not going away and new groups can still be created.
Beginning October 28, new content won’t be able to be uploaded to the site, and all previously posted content on the site will be permanently removed after December 14. We will continue to process requests to download your content as long as they are submitted by January 31, 2020.
- Email Updates
- Message Digest
- Message History
The Yahoo Groups site will continue to exist, however, all public groups will be made private or restricted. Any new group members will need to request an invite or be invited by an admin. Admins will still be able to manage various group settings, though some functionality will be limited.
On October 28, you will no longer be able to upload any content to the site. To share info with members of your groups, you’ll continue to be able to do so via email.
You’ll still be able to create new groups, communicate with your groups via email, and search for private groups on the site… In addition, admins will continue to have limited access to group settings and administration tools.
